Almost every big MMO these days is a marriage between an established intellectual property -- such as The Lord of the Rings, or Conan -- and a proven development studio like Mythic or Cryptic. It seems like every setting is getting MMO-ized, from Star Trek to the DC Comics universe. But there are lots of worlds left to explore.
That's why we're asking you today what world you want to explore, and who you want to make it. In other words, which franchise and which developer would you like to see come together?Battlestar Galactica and Funcom? Lost and SOE? No idea is too crazy. After all, it's likely none of them will become reality anyway!
Please keep in mind that Hello Kitty Online has already been done! Sorry to steal your thunder, folks!

I would love to see an MMO based in the Wing Commander/Privateer universe, developed by Bioware.

I want to see a serious console game studio work with an accomplished mmo company to finally get a action style mmo that requires twitch skills in addition to character building and gear progression.
Soul Caliber team for combat + darkfall team for ideas + actiblizzision for polish and implementation with frank millers' 300 IP

Have you seen DCO? Looks pretty neat, think it will satiate your console-mmo hunger?

It would be glorious if the best MMO companies came together to make a really great game, and I really think a game like that would be epic. It would be the Chrono Trigger of MMO's, in the double aspect of both being a work from the best brought together and that both would be considered the best of all time.

I think a MechWarrior MMO would have incredible traction... no pun intended.

I require Farscape. It shall be made by CCP and Bioware. It would have minimal references to the show other than overall ideas of the galaxy setting. It would have a good inventory system (some other company can design that). There would be major and minor factions galore!~
Also they would need to make it so that large (non-living) ships would need a multiple PC crew. So 'raiding' in space would be done in a single ship until you manage to board the opposition's ship.
All races would be hybrid-izable. Half-breed PC's add customisability!
It would be set 20 years after the television series. You wouldn't really end up seeing the show characters, maybe once in a great while. You would run into people who think of them as legends. Also there would be Crichton's children.
This would be so much better than Stargate's MMO I cannot even explain.

My dream team would be to purchase the MMO rights to MechWarrior, have FunCom develop it under the excellent command of Ralph Koster! And use Valve to distribute over steam.
With a clause in the contract to have nothing to do with EA, a strong focus on the RP aspects and not just the battles, and weekly content updates after release.
I am gitty thinking of such a magical marriage.

Gargoyles and Cryptic. Or, more realisticly, Gargoyles and Disney's in-house MMO developers.

I'd still like to see a pokemon MMORPG. That would be awesome.
I do think that WoW's greatest appeal is its mass obsurity. Most of its players have no idea what Warcraft is or what its about. To them its a completely clean slate. They dont feel left out for not getting the 'in-jokes' of a given series. The same could be said about EverQuest.
When you look at something like LOTRO, alot of players (myself included) were more interested in seeing Middle Earth than the game itself. It doesnt inspire long-term subscription. Once you've run across the world, you're done.

My favorite idea's for MMO's have already been announced as in development or at least hinted at, Firefly, BSG and WH40K are underway.
I have heard that Bioware are planning to do a Star Wars game, but set in the KOTOR period, which is cool, but i'd like to see the SW universe beyond Return of the Jedi or SW Galaxies redone.
I heard rumors that Starcraft Ghost isn't dead and that Galaxy of Starcraft will be the new MMO from Blizzard. But maybe they're going to give WoW a facelift which seems more likely than a Starcraft MMO.
Most of all i'd like to see a World War 2 MMO. Now i know there's Battlegrounds Europe but thats only a small portion of the war. I'd like to see the whole story and interact in a persistance world across all of the major theatres.

Theres a couple i'd be really interested in seeing. First off, I believe the best and most detailed MMO would be one based off of the RIFTS franchise. In the pen and paper game alone, the character creation is incredibly vast and the options for you in the world are nearly limitless.
Another franchise I'd like to see in MMO form is the World of Darkness franchise. I believe its already in the works by the creators of EVE, but I haven't heard much news about it. I believe it would be a new take on the MMO world. You don't really see playable vampires and werewolfs in online games and some of their powers are truely incredible.
While there are many more I could think about, the last one is one I doubt I'd ever see and is probably something only I'm interested in. I'd like to see one based on video games, an multi-verse or omni-verse of sorts. Anyone remember that cartoon Captain N: The Game Master? I'd like to see something like that in MMO form.

A Western based MMO and any developer that could actually pull it off (not SOE).

I'd like to see Raph Koster's vision applied to the GI Joe world. A GI Joe Online similar to the original vision of PreCU SWG would be great, and without a mythos-engrained alpha class, I think it could work.

World of Starcraft (Galaxy of... w/e) probably wouldn't suck
the Forgotten Realms setting... oh wait... 38? R.A. Salvatore? /win
but off the beaten path...
Cowboy Bebop + Blizzard would be a dream matchup for me. imagine a galaxy full of bounty hunters, crime syndicates, and corrupt cops duking it out with the best MMO combat engine (admit it, WoW gameplay is pretty badass) on this planet.
