Hmmm, A single new class after over 4 years, haircuts, a single new BG, a PvP area that has no influence on the rest of the game and 10 more levels of killing boars and orcs before we all go back to same static world of grinding raids and /or arena. Can hardly hold myself back...

Boze: A lot of WoW players are unhappy because the game that you start playing (levels 1-60, and now 1-70) is a game where you can log in, complete quests, join a PuG to hit a dungeon and then leave when you are ready.

WoW end game suddenly becomes a second job. You have to make your raid time usually twice a week. Oh, and don't have a real life, especially a family. Well, I suppose if you can convince your spouse and children to play too, or you can just neglect them. Didn't some toddler/infant get seriously injured as his parents played WoW and ignored him?

That is the simple reason I quit. I like WoW and would keep going, but I don't need another job in my life. I want my games to be fun, and that really means that they should conform to my schedule, not dictate it.

It is already well known that a minority of the player base ever sees the end-game raids. All those end game dungeons should be accessible by the average player. Not made harder, but the systems should be put in place that allow them to attempt them over and over until they become like UBRS was, something achievable by the average guy. First thing to do is trash timers and locks. That only serves to make runs more picky on who they bring.

Which is the second problem with WoW. When you hit 70 it is suddenly a popularity contest to get into the large guilds in order to progress.

I suppose badges is helping a bit. But it is still a messed up system. You see, I can give into the schedule and raid 2 times a week and in a few months I will find myself well geared and moving through dungeons. Yet, I can play twice as many hours, this time on my schedule, running heroics and in the end, I am very likely to only have half the quality/quantity of equipment than I would if I raided. Yet, I put in more hours? That's hardcore.

The kids are excited about the new expansion, but not me... I got sick of WoW a few months ago. This is what you do when you turn 70:

1 - Grind to get PVP gear to be eligible to go to Kara...
2 - Get gear from kara, must run kara weekly (like a second job)
3 - Get more gear from higher instance raids...
4 - Do the same dailies EVERYDAY to be able to afford the raids...
5 - Create and alt and start over...

Some of us, including me, are tired of the same stuff everyday... over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again... We are sick of that type of game... Thats why everyone is looking into Warhammer, because its suppose to be interactive, realm versus realm for territories... It just sounds better....

So my decision... no, heck no... I am not ever going back to wow... I am sick of the repetition everyday, every week, every month... over and over again... No thanks to WotLK... I'll let the ADD/ADHD kids take my place...

The only thing disagreeable with your comment is grinding PVP to run Karazhan... PVP gear is not meant at all for quality raiding, and if that's how you're approaching raids, its no wonder you don't enjoy the game.

You run through multitudes of Heroic dungeons, pick up some good quality gear upgrades from there along with a few select pieces of bad gear, and then you run off to do Karazhan, Zul'Aman, Serpentshrine Cavern, Tempest Keep, Battle for Mount Hyjal, Black Temple, and Sunwell Plateau.

I feel like the reason a lot of WOW players are unhappy and believe there's something to do is because they either expect everything immediately, or they don't do the right things to progress and experience content.

You cannot play whatever retarded talent spec you want in Season 1 gear and expect to see anything above Prince, Gruul, and Magtheridon.

It's these reasons that make me wonder why people decided to START playing WoW.

I just joined again after a year and a half off. My 60 will now have 20 levels to work through - should make the game last a bit longer before the staleness comes back.

This might be hard to believe but, I've never stopped playing WoW since it came out. If you don't play it as a lifestyle, you don't get burned out. There is MORE than enough content in the Burning Crusade to last maybe another year for most players.

You people that find the game boring or stale are doing it wrong, period.

@george - I find it humorous that you quit the game but yet make an a.d.d. comment. lol irony.

Nope.

Hero class was suppose to be in at launch, now they want you to pay for it. The grind factor now applies to factions besides leveling. Raiding has giving way to PvP as the main focus.

WoW was so popular when it released because it was new and had new ideas related to the MMO genre. Now, it is looking towards other games to see what they are doing and rehashing them (as are other MMO's). So nothing in it is new and exciting like at release.

In other words, I am done with WoW.

Definitely. They are making a lot of changes for the better. A lot of smart changes that are desperately needed. And the Death Knight looks awesome, although I'm sure the game will be over-run with them.

With AoC being a huge disappointment, and WAR coming out missing a lot of it's content, WoW is looking damn good right now, which is why I've come back to it.

for a game that so progressively and radically "trimmed the fat" off the leveling game we were all used to in games like EQ and FFXI, they sure did miss the ball entirely and fall into a horrible & stale rut on the end-game.

can't say WotLK is doing much for me.. I've not bothered logging in for months now. The only good news is *if* and I do mean if I even bother to get the expansion I'll have 10 more levels before I slam head-long into the crappy endgame that is Raid, PVP, or be bored. And since I don't Raid or like PVP I just can't feel motivated to play to level cap (again) and do nothing but dailies.

Blizz did a great job of pulling the casual in with the easy to pick up leveling game.. only to knee them in the gut with the end-game....

There are definitely alot of good changes coming in WotLK, and I was really looking forward to it. Then I got my Warhammer Online beta invite. I love PVP and don't have time for long committed raids, so in theory that game was perfect for me. I can't say much cause of the NDA...but lets just say I'm not even going to bother buying the WotLK expansion now :)

I started play an Orc Dread Knight .. great abilities get first mount early in leveling. Awesome crafting.. Ohhh wait that is Vanguard (Dread Knight) nor WoW (Death Knight).
Got wind of Vanguard on AoC forums .. gave it a try and for PvE .. its great. I am on the fence with WoW. The more I play Vanguard the more I feel I may just forget WoW.

I love WoW. I work full time, I am a year away from getting my master's degree, and I've never stopped playing WoW since a few months after it was released. Yeah, I get into phases that last a month or so that I don't feel like playing, and for weeks at a time, due to school and working obligations, I can't log in...

But I love WoW. ^__^ I've played a lot of games (ddo for 3 months, lotro for 1 month, AOC for 2 weeks XD, SWG for a few months) but nothing can compare.

Wow has so much for me to do. So much for me to see and experience. I guess this is why it pays to be casual. You don't race to sunwell (we're raiding BT once a week atm). You play at your leisure and it stays fun for years...

And then, just when you're about to see it all, something new happens!

It's ridiculous to think that you would always get new content for free. WoW releases several content laden patches for the low low price of 15 bucks a month (or 12 bucks if you pay several months in advance). That's like a quarter a day. It beats arcades!

15 bucks is cheap. Hell. 50 bucks for a new game is cheap. I'm getting almost two years out of one video game I bought for a retail box price of 50 bucks. XD That's ain't bad.

I'd gladly pay more for the entertainment. I pay 20 bucks every week to go and see movies with the girlfriend afterall! And that's only if she doesn't want popcorn! o.o

NCSoft has never charged for a single expansion pack for Lineage II (7 or so of them and counting).

EVE Online never charges for a single expansion pack (4 of them atm?) as well.

WoW admittedly drew me in before. The MMO market was dry, Age of Conan was getting numerous delays and I figured I may as well play it. Well, the raiding got the best of me and I ended up just raiding a ton (as it was the only worth while end game content).

I played the game first in hopes that I could have fun PvPing at the max level. Turns out PvP in WoW is nothing more than a shitty item grind for casuals to get easy epics. Even the arena, what was supposed to be the pinnacle of competition, ended up becoming nothing more then an item grind.

Honestly I would go to WAR before I went back to WoW, and WAR isn't exactly making me hold my breath for it at the moment. World of Warcraft had its chance with me, but the raiding is just too much and made me forget what I play MMOs in the first place -- for PvP.
