One of the big differences is that you can access epic (see raid level) content through public quests without organising groups, forced to stay a certain amount of time, log in at a certain time etc. You get rewarded for your participation in the public quests rather than just completing them and being lucky enough to get the loot. Another big change is that when the loot drops and you win, you can always use the loot. On top of that all your PvE stuff adds to the RvR victory points system so even if your doing public quests etc or dungeon runs, you're contributing to your side.

WAR is less gear dependent than WoW. Gear still does help but its no where near the levels of WoW. The gear aspect is further lowered because of the nature of PvP in WAR. You are almost always fighting alongside friends so its less about individual performances and more about how you do as a team.

Are we making this into a bigger deal than it really is? A quick hands-on of WAR by a guy who I have never heard of before writes a statment that says, "WAR strikes me as WoW mechanics wrapped in different lore plus a couple of new features." I have not played WAR yet and I have never played WOW so I do not know if the statement is true but even if it is who cares? I am looking forward to WAR because I had such a great time playing DAoC back in the day and I am not going to let Mr. O'Halloran’s article change that. I really wonder if he simply wrote the article not to inform but to insight WAR fans. After reading his article and comments I do not see any value in Mr. O'Halloran’s opinion or care about his past MMO gaming experience. The NDA for WAR will drop soon along with the start up of Open Beta and we will all get better information from more reliable sources then.

Forgive me for the intrustion but hearing of people claiming War is to similiar to WoW kinda get on my nerve. Aside from the Tome, PQ's, RvR, and immense custimization it has its smaller notes to. I feel that the last video posted in comparison of graphics doesnt do War any justice. If you wanted to compare it it should be compared to the latest video of war out there with most of its mechanics in.

It has the final lighting system in and shows a choosen running around in IC on a mount and everything. If you listen closely when it runs even its armor ont he mount chinks.

Sounds like Dan should get together with Richard Bartle and trade war stories about what the angry blog-crowds do to you if you dare to suggest that maybe WAR and WoW have a few things in common...
