Quoting Adam Gershowitz: That's part of the reason why we're down to two capital cities - we keep throwing more and more stuff into the existing ones. It got to the point where we were like, "Well crud, just Altdorf and Inevitable City have as much content as we originally planned for all three city pairings."

I think Massively should hold a contest to see if they can fine ONE reader who doesn't roll their eyes at that comment.

That would be anyone who has actually seen both cities. Unlike yourself.

I think Mr. Pingmeister is a little jaded over things he doesn't understand.

Pingmeister, I am completely offended by your statement. I cannot move my eyes ever since a stapling accident pinned them in place in 2006.

As a representitive of people with staple-fixed eyeballs, we resent the use of "rolling eyes" as a descriptive term. Don't even think about shaking your head in disgust at this reply either, else I will have to report you to the people encased in cement disability group.

Now, that said. Yes, Mythic is really trying hard to make their crap smell good. They have to, after all they have hyped us up for a couple years now with their marketing to only have to switch gears at the last minute on some hugely hyped features. And thus, they really have to spin it now.

In the end, who cares. It will either be fun to play or it won't. Hope it is fun.

Now... where are my eyedrops?

Cmon guys, lets not be naive. Look, I am actually a fan of Mythic, having played Dark Age of Camelot for YEARS and am a staunch defender of their constant upkeep and upgrades to the game.

But this is ridiculous.

Here are two statements:

1. We bit off a bit more than we could chew for our release. We have every intention of giving everyone the game we promised and then some, just not at our release date.

2. We put SO much content into one portion of the game that we actually decided to remove other portions of the game for the release.

One of those is TRUE and an answer I have a great deal of respect for while the other is SPIN and is an insult to their customers.

You all are so naive. If you would have researched before posting you'd see that the other cities are being put in after release. They plan on cycling which cities are active for RvR so that the PvP population is more concentrated. And as for the 2 statements post above me where 1 is illegidly false, they are both true. When they joined with EA and got better funding, Mythic decided to expand on a HUGE scale the size and importance of the cities. Because they did this and due to time constraints (believe it or not making a game of this size does cost money...) they ended up with 2 HUGELY expanded cities and 4 which are just the original design that have very little importance to the game (like WoW's cities). So Mythic temporarily removed the 4 smaller cities so that they could expand on these to the same scale as the large cities and be put back in when they are finished.

Therefore, yes, they bit off more than they could chew, which actually makes the game MUCH more expansive and has very little negative impact on the game. And they also put in more content and decided to cut the inferior content for an update, resulting in a better game.

Also, remember the game is still in Closed Beta, and Mythic has kept very true to their original design, something very few MMO's have managed to do between the thought process and release. (Yes, even WoW cut LOTS of content that they said would be in release. For example, WoW was supposed to have sieges and hero classes before the game ever even came out... Here we are many years later and they are finally giving these things to their players.)

I think my main concern was that they added more "stuff" to the existing cities. And to say they're "HUGELY" more expansive isn't very descriptive.

I'm a little peeved about the classes still. If you did YOUR homework, you'd see that they said they may not implement some of those classes at all. Mind you, some of those classes being cut were their FIRST they had for testing, and that's not under the NDA, check the main site. What a waste of resources.

One of the things they ALWAYS pushed in the beginning was the war between the races: Greenskins vs. Dwarves, Chaos vs. Empire, Dark vs. High Elves, and somehow every MENTION of that has wiped away with the removal of two of the culminating battles of those pairings.

Oh, and to say they'll add the cities 'eventually' means almost nothing from Mythic. Did you ever play DAoC? It's a 3 faction RvR endgame MMO, Mythic's first, where they took most of their PvP ideas they didn't steal from other high selling MMO's for use in WAR. That game was hyped to have F O U R factions, the fourth being based on oriental lore. You may have trouble finding info on that it was so quickly wiped from DAoC'ers memories. We'll wait and see if Mythic doesn't repeat its glaring mistakes.
