May I just say here, Big Deal!

No, seriously. As if quest rewards, faction and PvP items and the like weren't enough. Now we get a shiny badge to put somewhere too? Not my idea of the right answer this time.

So that's 2 ideas now they've stolen from Turbine's LOTRO? First In-game voice chat and now achievements. Right.

What bothers me is not so much that they're stealing ideas, it's just that they can't come up with their own unique thing most of the time.

And LotRO stole it from Guild Wars. What's your point?

Ahh Blizzard. Why innovate when they can duplicate? Yay.

Actually think of the real impact of this?

More content. What's so wrong with that? You can either go do achievements and get your special currency for rare mounts, vanity pets, custom titles, etc, or don't. It's the players choice, but the fact they're adding another facet to the myriad of things you can do in WoW is nothing short of good for the game.

If nobody was allowed to use proven ideas that work, there just wouldn't be a game industry period. Borrowing ideas is not a sin, it only leads to improvements and new innovations.

Kudos to Blizzard. Now if they'd just copy EQ1's epic weapon quests and give a legendary weapon designed for each class... They'd really have their shit in line!

lol, PC gamers, such a funny bunch.. Blizzard stole this "from LOTRO", you say? Jesus, get outside your bubble, these are ideas from console games, not from any PC MMO.

Try looking at the history of Xbox Live, not some PC game released a little over a year ago.

Anyway, good ideas are MEANT to be imitated. People LIKE voice chat in games, and not everyone has a guild TS or Vent server. People LIKE pursuing achievements, not everyone, sure, there are people like Calarius above who couldn't care less about "a shiny badge", but plenty do. That's why Mythic is also making an achievement system a big part of WAR, via their "Tome of Knowledge".

I'm willing to bet that voice chat in games in some form or another has been around for a decent while before Xbox Live...

LotRO certainly wasn't the first game to use it, but I don't believe consoles were either.

But anyways, yes I agree.. afterall, isn't imitation supposed to be the most sincere form of flattery?
