Aquaman, Plastic Man, Wonder Woman = 1941
The Atom, The Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkman, Shazam = 1940
Batman, Superman = 1939
The Crimson Avenger = 1938

So... DC's oldest superhero character first saw publication in 1938, marking his 70th anniversary this year, and Batman and Superman will mark 70th next year.

70 years... not exactly "pushing 100 years strong." They've got another 30 years to go... today's 35-year-old MMO players will be collecting social security at age 65 when Batman and Superman hit 100 !

I'm not really a fan of the DC universe (they somehow manage to squeeze in even more retcons than marvel), but I really like the attitude expressed by the devs. One of the downfalls of City of Heroes has always been the feeling that the devs are constantly squashing the feeling of being 'super' in the name of balance. If players figure out a clever combination of powers that can do truly super-powered things . . . nerf. Tanks are super tough? Nerf. Blasters do super damage? Nerf. City of Heroes had ended up feeling like standard MMO fare in hero costumes. It's no more 'super' than a mage tossing a fireball in WoW.

DCUO really sounds like they want to avoid that, and if they can do it I'll play this game happily, DC IP or not.

Can't agree more PeterD!!! I'm looking foward to DCU after reading their view on 'super'-ness. CoH just doesn't have that feel anymore.
