Well they could go the AoC way....just go Live regardless of countless bugs and stuff not working at all.

I'd rather they wait and patch stuff back in when it's done. Better yet, just wait with release till it's done. Seems to be working for Blizzard.

That's bad...Pretty embarrassing announcement if you ask me.

Will this be like Vanguard were classes / features simply never make it into the game ? - I hope not.

Now makes me wonder if other core elements of the game are going to be missing at release - what else is not there ?
I doubt this is done so that they can "polish" other areas...I think it suggests they really should be releasing next year.

Let's have one of those flash videos explaining why this has happened (with the flashy animations)

I bet Blizzard are going down the pub tonight for a bit of a celebration.

"WAR, while now different, is more exciting and engaging then ever before and the cities and careers provide an experience to look forward too"

what a crock, don't try to sell me up on something when you take stuff away.

i'm annoyed because this game was the only MMO out right now that looked to be worth my time. totally sick of WoW and AoC sounds boring, so i had my chips riding on this one to be decent. hopefully it still will be

I cancelled my CE pre-order. I may re-order after trying the open beta but all I really wanted from the CE was the beta code and bonus item codes and they already emailed those to me, so... yeah. If I enjoy the beta I will re-order the regular edition. I don't care for the art book or anything.

I guess I'm not too surprised. It sounded like the capital cities beyond Altdorf and the Inevitable weren't... well, close to being finished. The trouble is, the Empire and Chaos zones will be a roaring battlefest, and the other zones will be unusually quiet. Why bother fighting in the other ones now?

I'll be really miffed if this stuff comes out in an expansion as opposed to patches. I really don't want to pay an extra $40 to get things that were supposed to be in the core game.

That's the EA way! Mythic has learned well; over promise, under deliver and charge for what should be included in the original release.

EA is the anti-Christ of gaming.

I think this is what everyone here on this forum should be focusing on. After shelling out $140 on Vanguard CE's for both the wife and I, though it bombed for other reasons as well, I'm hesitant to jump in here unless they can follow Turbine's example in LOTR with FREE Content patches for it's Loyal $15/month subscribers or my case and many others $30/month.

Blizzard makes $150,000,000 a month and how does it repay it's subscribers?

$40/($80 for couples), less ye wait for six months for Walmart to sell it for $20, for each expansion pack ($400,000,000 for blizzard) and a freaking Zebra Mount for getting them another paid subscriber.

Now the question is, Would this change your mind if they came out and said they would fix these things and add them as patches to download instead of paying more for the added content?

That being said, I doubt this game will play good on a 56k connection, but for those that have a slow connection, allow others to be able to burn the Gig's of patch info to give to those unfortante ones. Ten to Fifteen hours was a long time to wait for the 10Gig to play the beta, but man was it worth it! It's going to be hard waiting for Open Beta just so I can play again.

Just a thought, I hope others fill the same about Patched vs. store bought Expansions, and that this becomes loud enough from WAR fans that Mythic will listen. Thanks for Your time reading all of this.

I am not sure what to say. I have been following the game, but when one of the classes I really wanted to try gets the boot is sucks. They may be able to make a better game, but yeah I am going to need time to process this and see if it will be worth the wait after all.

The real problem here is that Mythic set the hype machine to overdrive months too early. Had they not started setting release dates for as much as a year or so ago and then repeatedly dropping the delay hammer, all while pumping out info at a fast and furious rate so ridiculously far in advance, the possibility of a delay now to fix what needs fixing wouldn't be so unthinkable.

That said, the cutting of cities doesn't seem so bad (it helps that I was going Chaos all the way anyway), though one could do without Mr. Jacobs' patronizing exhortations of fabulousness. I think the class cutting is much more disturbing--if nothing else, how can a company that touts its deep experience in MMOs fail to design workable tanks, of all things?

I have no doubt that they made this decision for the sake of quality. For that, I applaud Mythic. Not many companies have the guts to do something so drastic for the sake of quality. And not many publishers would let Mythic make such an announcement, so I applaud EA as well.

That said, they'd obviously be destroying the balance of the game if they removed two tanks and two melee DPS classes and released this year. The Orc, Elf, Dwarf, and Empire races would be at a disadvantage in PvP, and quality would certainly not be served in that way. I have to assume that the game is essentially broken until those classes are replaced.

Mark Jacobs is right that severely altering classes post-release is also a bad idea. So the only smart move here is to delay the game. If they can't afford that, then they have to be willing to accept that a significant chunk of their potential audience is going to shun the game, initially or forever.

Quite simply, this is going to hurt Warhammer Online one way or another. They only have to decide now how they want the pain.

They've stated before that you could early and easily get to other starting areas. Do you really expect guilds to not congregate to select areas so they can group up? All classes are going to be spread across all the battlefronts early on.

1. I'm disapointed. Obviously it's not the end of the World, but the implication was that, despite the leaks from beta, things were going smoothly and all was well. Well, it's not. Mythic is a fine company and I think Warhammer will be a good game, but this gives me a reason to think that it won't be the monster that pushes other titles to be bigger and better themselves.

2. This shit about slamming games that actually do release and using other unreleased titles as ammo needs to stop. It doesn't help gamers as a whole. When Warhammer is released we can talk about it being a WoW, Eve, or even an AoC killer. Right now Warhammer and Darkfall should be considered what they really are: nice ideas that *might* be released this year, in a few years, or freaking never.

Call me when they actually go retail, until then comparing games that ponied up and released with pipe-dreams titles is just retarded. It's like comparing an '84 tan Datsun truck with some fantasy car you have in your head. Sure the Datsun might be crap, but at least you can drive it...the other won't take you anywhere no matter how cool you think it *might* be *if* it's ever released.

It could always be worse, AoC has stats that don't work, and female characters STILL do less damage than males, on top of a myriad of other problems. When WoW was released there was virtually no endgame content to speak of. While this really sucks, I don't think it'll be the worst thing for them. With how difficult it's SUPPOSED to be to take a capital city, I don't think any server's gonna be doing that in the first days, weeks, or even months, so I don't see the lacking of 4 capitals as a huge issue. Class removal is another thing, now that really sucks, but I was kicking around playing a Choppa and I think I'd be A LOT more pissed if I booted it up on day one to find that my class was a completely broken monstrosity.

Bad Bad Bad idea. They did the same thing with DAoC, promising this and that, and it was not released with the game, nor was it ever added later.

As a long time MMO player, Everquest, DAoC, and WoW, and quitting all of them to go to the next or trying something different, being let down by the dev or QA. This does not make me happy especially after buying 2 copies of the Collector's Edition. This is not what we paid for.

Wow, this is an amazing nerf bat for their launch. They are obviously rushing to release, instead of following Blizzard's strategy of "releasing it when it's done." These changes damage the appeal of the game in so many ways...

Shock. Suprise. Disappointment.

It's a tough line to walk. Anyone that thinks the release of WotLK isn't in the back of Mythic's minds is delusional. A lot of WoW players are tired of the 'same old same old' and don't have a lot of new content to play around in. The upcoming expansion is going to revitalize a lot of interest in the game, and nobody can really count on what the longevity of that x-pac is going to be.

It's pretty much a now or... who knows... kind of a release schedule for Mythic. While plenty of people that don't play WoW would still buy the game, waiting until there is fresh content via WotLK would put a dent into their subscriptions for anyone that's on the fence.

It's kind of a "damned if they do, damned if they don't" proposition.

1) Release now with full, but unfinished content and risk what's happening with AoC happen to them.

2) Release now with partial content, hopefully release the promised content ASAP via patches, and get people invested before WotLK comes out.

3) Hold off on release until all the content is polished, but run into the juggernaught that Blizz is about to put out there.

Is this disapointing? Sure it is. I'm not convinced it isn't the correct decision though given the climate of the industry. It's probably the least of the three evils they'd be looking at honestly. Doesn't make it suck any less, but you have to take the full picture into account before you go on a bashfest.
