There's plenty of doom and gloom discussion surrounding Funcom's Age of Conan. The hours played and reported by X-fire users plummeted since it hit desktops. Possibly the wackiest and most critical bug ever seen in an MMOG ever won't be fixed anytime soon. Unfinished content has diminished Age of Conan's reputation in the later parts of the game. The rap sheet goes on; however, a strong demand exists for a new MMOG as an astonishing 700,000 accounts were registered in the first month alone. That number is quite a feat, but the overall number of subscriptions four or six months down the road comes into question as most players that leave after their first month tend to be very unforgiving.
Stropp, an MMOG blogger, remains optimistic in his post entitled "Why Age of Conan Will Succeed" and points out all the advantages that Age of Conan and Funcom possess. While Stropp did cancel his Age of Conan account he believes the game will not die anytime soon and projects long-term success. Funcom is certainly a capable company with experience, but how many subscribers are needed to claim rousing success or do the crude pitfalls from an all-to-soon-launch already make Age of Conan a failure from a business standpoint? You decide.

"Stinking Failure"? Sensationalist tabloid BS. I expected better from you, Massively. Complaints like "bags are expensive" and "my armor looks the same"? If shopping and looking pretty are what you need to have fun, AoC is not for you.

I really don't understand all the hate for this game.
Does it have a few launch bugs. Yeah. Are they keeping me from playing the game, no? The most I have to do is relog if I play for 5+ hours to fix the "grey map" problem. Do I have to wait i a queue for a hour when I relog no. Let me think, where was it that I had to wait in a long queue when the game crashed on me.....
Mounts are expensive. So what. In EQ1, WoW, and Lotro if you take away the broker system it is impossible to have a mount by your desired level.
My gear at level 30 looked a lot different then my gear at level 5 lol, or even at level 20.
They are currently trying to get their heads around balancing the classes but it must be tough since if you read the forums EVERY class is broken. What mmo released with good class balance and skill trees that never needed repair/adjusting?
Who cares about stock prices. Since when does a stock broker decide whether a MMO is good or not? Up, down, sideways, I don't care. Only "financialish" flag I would ever look at is company layoffs and Funcom is doing the opposite. They are hiring.
On a end note, I'm not a "fanboy" of any game. I play a lot of different MMOs and know a good game with a lot of potential when I play it.

I am a fan of City of Heroes. I played SWG for about 3 years.
I played my ranger in Conan up to level 42 and picked up the horse.
I have a hard time with the complex active combat system. I was doing ok until they added 2 more directionals. This is the best combat system out there and players with more skill will have an edge.
The travel isn't that bad. The world is rich and lush so running through it is a pleasure. The wild life reacts like they would in real life. Even the quest system doesn't allow high level players to roll over lower level elite content. I wish I knew how the stats impacted player performance so I knew what I was trying to stack to make my character more powerful.
The game is new. The guild system seems fairly solid and will get better as players learn more about it.
I was dreading rolling a Priest since the ranger was hard to play. I didn't want to role over all that newbie content again. Oddly enough I really enjoyed it. The paths for each arch type are different and over lap at the same time.
This is a game for mature players, not twitch based snot nosed kids.
