Seriously, delaying it more and actually fixing, polishing and making it good would have won them many more subscribers than a quick release ploy just to get people in the game.

People are leaving it in droves. Had it been a good finished product six months from now people would be joining in droves.

I canceled. I liked the basic action, but in the end the lack of promised content ruined it for me. It also played a minor part that my computer just couldnt not get the game to run smoothly on ANY settings.

I like it. This is the first MMO I've really sat down and played through. I tried ten levels of WOW, but I don't care for the genero-fantasy setting. I played about 15 levels of SWG. I'll still pick that one up here and there, but I log into Conan nightly.

I understand it's not perfect, but I wouldn't expect any MMO to be in the first month. I'm in for the long game on Conan. It's a world I really enjoy immersing myself into.

I do think the "I won't pay for beta testing" comments are interesting. I actually believe a lot of people WOULD pay to have beta testing bragging rights. Plus, it's $15 a month. That's throwaway money.

Staying for at least another month.

Shallow gameplay? I like shallow. I don't want to spend weeks mastering boss encounters. I want basic dogpiles and to steamroll over stuff in PvE. I'm having fun.

The game needs work, to be sure. Upper level quests need to be put in place. Tanking needs to be rebalanced for survivability, especially against green conning bosses. Yes, there are bugs. Have not gotten to the endgame yet to try endgame PvP. If they keep the promise of PvP in a Conan game - in a low-magic, barbarian world, non-stealthed melee characters ought to be at least playable - they may keep me around for a long time.

The game is roleplaying friendly. One of the genius things about Howard's Hyboria is that it relates tenuously to history, and doesn't come with a huge, confining, and confusing backstory.

I uninstalled the client about a week after purchasing the game, ... the client is a system hog. My performance was too poor in the 'daytime city' to justify playing any further.

From the little I saw of the game, the maps also seemed very linear. The constant zoning didn't help.

Kole, I'm not calling you out but I'll use your comment to make my point.

I can see this happening a lot. I think a lot of people who haven't had a lot of experience with MMOs are being drawn to this game because of the nice graphics. Sure, if I was new to MMOs and I cast some tempest of set spells and I saw lightning charging out from all over my body I wouldn't even think about some cartoony game like WoW.

But after you get past the graphics you have to realize that AoC doesn't have any cool instances until level 40 (Sanctum) and then none again until level 80. You have to actually grind mobs to make it through many levels because quests run dry. There isn't a whole lot of strategy to the fights, it's basically tank and spank, nothing more.

As someone who has played lots of MMOs I can need something better.

Like it, sticking with it. Maybe the fact that I never played WOW actually helps me...

I will be continuing to play. I am not sure for how long.

It took me 4 or 5 characters in WoW to feel like I had explored all of the starter zones.

I think I may have hit all of the beginning content in AoC and the idea of doing Tortage again is not inviting.

I will continue exploring AoC as I level up. I am very impressed by the visuals but unhappy with the zone designs. Far too many times I am hunting some mobs and turn to see a group of mobs ten levels above me aggroing me.

Also not a fan of the instancing and transporting to zones. WoW gave a GREAT feeling of a huge continent. This one really ends up feeling like going from room to room, even outdoors.

I will keep with it, though. Still having fun.

I just canceled my subscription. I have played a few mmos in the past but this one just didn't do it for me. It felt like an upgraded WoW (which in my opinion is a huge step since I really didn't like WoW). I know there are many differences between the games, but I just couldnt get into the game.

I'll wait for champions online.

I love AoC. I love the different take on classes, the unmatched beauty of the game, and the dynamic quests. Lastly, the combat system is the most dynamic in the genre and kicks everyone else on the market's arse!

I didn't rush to endgame and am still 30+ levels away from being there. I have no doubt any issues with endgame will be addressed by the time I get there.

AoC is a refreshing addition to the MMO genre. I just wish they offered a lifetime sub.

love it, EVERY mmo thats comes out has a bunch if whiners saying its too buggy or has unrealistic system requiments.

The game runs awesome for me I enjoy playing it and it feels more finished than any other launch mmo I have played. I am lvl 48 and have not felt a grind since day 1. The people complaining about grinding are the ones who think thats how you play the game. they have my money,

Kept. Definitely worth the money.

It's true that it's still somewhat unpolished, but compared to VGSoH, it's original, beautiful and has a certain flair to it. It's just a matter of time until the issues stated above are ironed out.

I was really on the fence, but decided to give it another month. I'll be re-evaluating it in 30 days.

I didn't have any of the technical issues that a lot of people seemed to have, at first, but it seems like the more they patch the more problems I have.

That and I keep losing interest in classes in the mid-30s.

But I do think it has potential and even if I cancel after this first paid month, I definitely plan to give it another shot in 6 months or so.

I like the game, but not enough to buy a new computer. My computer is just fine for everything else I use it for, but it bogs down too often while playing AoC, so I'm canceling my subscription. There's other MMOs that are just as much fun that do run well on my hardware.

I'll continue to subscribe, despite the rough edges. AoC's combat system is the best I've seen in an MMO, and the art direction and brutality are delightful. Whatever replaces AoC for me will need to improve on these aspects, and I frankly don't see anything on the horizon.

Canceled.

Not enough ... something. I can't quite put my finger on it...

One thing that bugs me is that everyone is some variation of heroically proportioned brown human - not a lot of variation there. I realize there is only so much one can do with the source material, but still...

There's also the typical "graphics over gameplay" mentality that is prevalent in most modern MMOs; there are hundreds of hours in making sure the tree textures look pretty in every position of the 'detail' slider, but MOB spawn timers, quest content, class abilities, and a working crafting system are still all "works in progress"...

I will admit though that on my SLI 8600 setup, AoC is awful damn pretty.

The last thing I'll mention is the secret of WoW's "Secret Sauce"... If your MMO is built around a future-proofed cutting-edge graphics engine, you loose. WoW has 10 million players mostly due to the fact that it runs on 5 year old hardware - which means little Billy's parents don't need to put a $300 video card in his computer to play the $50 game that has a $15 a month subscription.

I realize that little Billy probably isn't playing AoC, and 18+ game, but it still makes the point. :)
