Anyone know if CoH/CoV has the "critical mass" issue as severe as other (usually older) MMOG's that do not have a temporary level up/down (sidekick/exemplar) mechanic?

Honestly the same can be said of even the top MMO out there; WoW has too many low-pop US realms (unsure how the EU servers are) that Blizzard seemingly refuses to merge in order to provide those players a better experience. One could argue they are indirectly told to shell out $25/character for a transfer to a better realm, though.. /tinfoilhat.

You know, sounds silly, but why tell your player you merged at all? Why not just keep all the old server names on the server select page and point the old names to the merged servers? ;)

OK, that's a bit absurd, but is the point so invalid? If people are so afraid of bad news, why tell them? It's not like a server merge actually makes the game worse, so why worry them with it?

I actually think promoting negativity using blogs and news articles such as this one would actually do more damage to the number of players leaving a game.

A simple negative post, that has been plucked out of the air and related to a game like TR. Will do damage and start breeding negative thoughts.

The TR community is solid right now, the fist 6 months are up and those players remining are true to the game and actually new players are trying the game all the time.

All nice and dandy tabulablogger, but I stayed for the full 6 months and then gave up on developers incapable of even acknowledging bugs I reported from day 1 and they verified themselves. Disfunctional social tools forcing me to keep track of player activity with a spreadsheet and buggy auto-stacking definitely turned me off that game, and I don't intend to subscribe to a Destination Games title ever again.
