"This group of players cannot be ignored easily. After all, Blizzard made their mark by catering to this crowd."

Know your history before you make this type of comment, Tigole was a guild leader of a hardcore raiding guild (and part of the uberguild network) and quite closely related to Furor in terms of friendship/kinship.

Tigole was guild leader of Legacy of Steel (if I remember rightly) in everquest and also part of the vocal minority back then as well. Furor (the guy who wrote the article you linked) funnily enough now works as the lead quest designer in Wow ... coincidence? I don't think so, it's because they were and still are good friends.

So you say they are catering to the vocal minority, when WoW was spawned by the vocal minority.

Actually, he said that it caters to the unabashed fanboy, not the "vocal minority." In fact, he never used the phrase "vocal minority."

Onetrueping is correct. I never said anything about them being a "vocal minority" even though hardcore raiders on that level are exactly that.

Not every forum loudmouth has or had the kind of credibility that Furor did back in the EQ days, that said, it takes a lot more than being loud to build a good game, and Blizzard has a LONG track record of developing quality games. If you focus too much on the blowhards, you're not going to make the best game that you can make. Blizzard caught lighting in a bottle when they developed World of Warcraft and I doubt we will see a game with that kind of impact ever again.
