Sorry i disagree with his comment that the "big mmo's" created new markets. Nothing has been created that can be classified as a new market, to say this is being ignorant, and not in any bad sense of that word.

when an mmo comes out with no skills, no leveling, no party favors (loot) no quests, that will be new, right now nothing in over 20 years can even remotely be said provide something new. Same everything in every mmo that is out, to include these new ones, just a different location.

I am with Possum. WoW, the "king" is not new at all. It is simply a slight evolution on design. When I say slight, I mean it too. Almost all the "revolutionary" features of WoW when it shipped existed in another game somewhere else. Blizzard just took a lot of good ideas from various places and wrapped it into an easy-to-sell intellectual property.

I, for one, am looking forward to Jumpgate Evolution but NOT because it is a new market. Far from it, it is an obvious evolution to the market put in place by classics like Elite, Wing Commander, X-Wing vs Tie Figher, etc...

Even Spore, which the creature creator so far is pretty fun, is still nothing of a new market. It is just a slightly different take on the existing simulation market.
