Everquest 2 does have a fair bit of deity involvement - not only are there a large number of deities pretty well sketched out with lore (from EQ1) but your character can do several quests to adopt a patron deity, which gives him or her various special items, as well as an altar to that god you can put in your house and pray to to get various one-shot blessings and miracles.
