Massive? Not in the traditional sense really, just because most spectator sports don't lend themselves to that sort of thing, at least not with the gameplay aspect alone. If a company was to do a pro sports MMO like a football game and go beyond what's on the field like player character coaches and managers and agents and so on, maybe then they'd have a better argument towards such a game being massive.

For what it's worth though, I really think the only sport that could work in the traditionally massive sense for now (and I've said it for years) is skateboarding. With Neversoft taking a year off from their Tony Hawk games that's probably an avenue they might want to explore for revitalizing. Maybe even get some help from those Blizzard guys since they're part of the family now.
