I've been thinking about the crafting in LOTRO a bit lately as I enjoy crafting things in mmo's.
One of the main problems I see with the system is that I am crafting things that no one wants to buy at lower levels. eg weapons/armour. It isn't until the higher levels that these crafted items become wanted, and then you have to try and sell it with a flooded market.

Making it harder/longer to level up doesn't fix anything. What you want is for things to be needed by other players, no matter what level you craft at. What good is something crafted for a level 30 player with limited silver who is saving for a mount to a level 50 player who has lots of gold and the best items? Sure the level 50 player can buy the stuff for his alt or friend but when some of the better stuff comes from loot at the lower levels why should they.

One good thing I have seen introduced is crafting things for reputation (eg Ranger Sashes). I can now craft a number of these to build my reputation or sell them for a profit to others who want to build theirs no matter their level.

(might have to one day write a full crafting rant, but will cut this one off now) :-)
