Its unfortunate that secondlife feels this way about the creation of megaprims. For developers like oursleves some builds just wouldn't be possible without a little mega prim use. I totally understand why secondlife would block it on the mainland with issues such as prims cutting across others land but would it be so much to ask to allow megaprim creation on private islands to be kept open?

Maybe integrating some sort of system that only allows mega-prims to be built/ressed on private islands only?

And to penalize mainland parcel owners for the use of megaprims is in my opinion a wholly unsatisfactory and unwise policy for LL to take! Gee I can't imagine why people opt out of premium accounts and move to the pricey estates! mainland parcel owners have to put up with unsightly parcels, huge rotating "for sale" signs, "no entry" tape everywhere, the preponderance of the griefing, no possible increase in the parcel prim allotment and penalties for using tools and objects the estates can use. While I understand the issue of overlapping parcels with prims, it seems that there are many options to resolve this discussed in the SLDev listserv so that shouldn't be a show stopper! I would suggest LL re-think their policy. And whatever happened to LL adding value to the premium account that was touted a couple months ago?

ahh, i finally understand the mega prim issue. as a blender 3d novice, i could not understand the argument against megas, since a plane, regardless of size, is till the same poly count.

so it made no sense to me from a rendering point of view and cpu strain. but now i see friom this article, the registration point (centre) of a prim is what determines wher it is. so i can make a 10 metre cube and have almost half of it laying into another person's property but it's still on my side and in my control. a definite drag for the other person.

i have no idea waht it takes to change the way proeprty lines interpret prims, but i guess a change in that could allow for mega prims. at least linking can be done a bit further now which is nice :)

just the opinions of Ener Hax . . .
