EC-f: works like a charm. It will be interesting to see what happens this week as the Lindens find the inventory database flooded with new megaprims - will they try to plug the gap or maybe finally give their blessings?

Putting on my tinfoil hat for a second, by removing the Bozo-filter of having to either have testclient.exe or the knowledge to compile your own client we will now get a pile of people who shouldn't use these big prims using them.

I base this statement on the needs to have camera constraints disabled, draw distances boosted and limit select distance off.

Handling let alone creating such prims requires a little more than newb knowledge, but now newbs have the ability.

As far as what will the Linden's do, well, with the bozo-filter in place they may have just left this but with a free-for-all but every man and his furry they have already said they can trivially clamp the prims.

Could it be that this flood of new prims and the associated problems cause the loss of all megaprims, even Gene Replacements inadequate set.

Taking my tin foil hat off...

The more builders who quickly get these patched clients and start making decent builds, ie: do good with them, the more chance we will have of the Lab leaving this "exploit" in the system.

If the good outweighs the bad and if the groundswell is there to bitch and moan when they try and take it away then we may have a chance.

Being overly optimistic...

This was the plan all along. We are playing the Lab's gameplan perfectly.

even better would be is it started like your first scenario, with people making bad use of it, but then, cause of pressure of good builders LL would add the features required to prevent most of the possible misuses and acidents with M-prims (lol, I wonder this new name will catch Xp

two questions

why the 100 meters limit?

and

how do I start new group IMs? (and since we're in this topic, can I have the gui back to "normal"? I fail to see why people dislike it so much, in most aspects I much ratter the official gui...)

hmm, great discussion Jay. very true on the high probability of really crappy mega prim stuff getting built. i guess that is the downside of having a platform that allows for a lot of creativity.

i tend to think in terms of it being nice to build a 20m x20m wall or floor with one prim rather than four. but can certianly envison god awful mega malls that would be such an eyesore. but them again, on private estates such things would be somewhat worked out by economic pressures. a mega mall goes on my sim, peeps hate it and leave, i then kick out the mega mall unless profitable.

i have no experience with mainland and imagine that these type builds would be all over the place . . .
