This is where Final Fantasy XI kicks major ass.. Just change your job!

Every player can experience the ins and outs of every class in the game without ever changing anything else about their character.

Frankly, every game should be like that.. no exceptions. I dont want to put 50 hours of questing and leveling into a character, only to get to endgame and realize Im useless and have to start from scratch.

I think that makes a lot of sense; it's unusual for someone to have the same job their entire career, for instance, and there's no reason that this sort of mechanic couldn't be adapted to different titles.

WoW's professions are enhancements or a means to an end, but nothing make-or-break, for example. If you want to go from being someone who can take a nearly infinite beating to someone who can deliver or prevent one, however, the options for the non-hybrid classes (paladin, druid, and to a lesser extent shaman) are pretty much "start over."
