That dude is Alliance, I'm sure someone photo-shopped that bottle of Windex, QQ Alliance play with a baby bottle in their mouths.

I play MMOs for a variety of reasons. I prefer the gameplay and the large worlds. I don't tend to have an addictive personality, which is why I play many games with many alts, and rarely get to the endgame. But I must confess, games are my primary hobby.

Though right now, MMOs are a way for me to spend time with my brother in Arizona, and my old roommate who now lives out of town with his wife. My fiancée and I play CoH together, but now that she has her own running crew, that's less common.

But most importantly... did you just RICK ROLL us in the middle of your article?!

That's cool to hear that you use MMOs as a social networking tool. I do the same with my friends. It's always nice to get together with them and do a couple quests. :) Makes things much more intimate in the game.

And as for the rick rolling, you should have been warned when you saw "Rick Astley". :)

Warned, perhaps. But the inundation of Astley in this decade is like a cudgel to the eyeballs. I just came back from lunch with a print-out of him taped to my monitor.

This may be going too far.

First point, actually it is usually horde on the 10 servers I have played with that are immature and annoying, not alliance. Alliance has also dominted the battlegroups I have been in.

ANNNNYWHOOOO

You just brought about the real reason that WoW is garbage, though no one is willing to believe it. ( I have played off and on since launch high tiered 70 raid and pvp). It really is just a digital treadmill, with very little "fun" content. It is doing the identical thing with a couple button presses over and over and over to get gear, for the next chance to pres-

you get the point.

It's a terrible game, business model, and it gets gobbles up. Welcome to the world of sheep.

People don't play MMO's to press the buttons, just like people don't play basketball because they like to watch balls dropping through metal hoops.

People play MMO's because they feel that they're advancing themselves vicariously through their characters. But they actually... are! Within the social context of the MMO environment, your character's advancement contributes to your own social advancement.

A character with all the best gear is going to be a very popular person in WoW, no matter what class they belong to. He or she will have tons of friends and opportunities. Everyone in the game is involved in the commensual value system of the game.

So yes, hitting 1,1,1,1,2,1,1,1,1, ... is worthwhile to people within the context of the game, just like hitting a ball or running a mile or wiggling an airplane's control stick is worthwhile to people who participate in those activities.
