Well, DEFINATILY NOT GuildWars or World Of Warcraft.

Why?

I'm a big Guildie, and most people feel that its a slow paced, relaxed, FREE game, for people with not much time to devote, or their own money, (Middle School-High School). It's truly an ADULT game. I think that Guildies and WoWzers dont get along at ALL, and thats good, because (it has been said before) THEY ARE VERY DIFFERENT GAMES TARGETED AT DIFFERENT TYPES OF PEOPLE!

The one game i think should be destroyed, and removed from history is RuneScape.

Since i was 8, i played for 2 years. I got addicted, and really good. (For those of you who care/know, i was level 108, and at the time ranked #508 in all time high-scores)

Sure, it was FUN, but..

I think i can describe it with a true story.

I was reading an article about RuneScape. It said "People spend months, and YEARS, devoting dozens of hours a week playing RuneScape, and for what? A really expensive item? (That is only 70 pixels)"

That changed my mind, and thats why it RS = CRAP MAJOR.

WORST GAME.

IT RUINED MY MMORPG LIFE.

(BTW, i quit RS as of... 2 years ago.), lolz.

I've got news for you - that's what you're doing in EVERY MMORPG. I'm not bashing MMORPGs, but don't kid yourself that the time spent playing WoW is any less "wasted" than playing Runescape (aside from the fact that Runescape sucks).

I'm confused. You say that GW is an adult game for middle-school students? Errrr...

I think people still hold out hope for a good Star Wars MMOG, and don't want to jinx it. ;)

My pick is Auto Assault. I know it's already dead and gone and out of the picture, but I'll kick it in the grave a few times for promising to be an innovative post-apocalyptic car combat MMO, and all it ended up being was Everquest with cars. I'm still angry with it.

Whatever one isn't making money for the developers. As long as their are people having fun and the game is making money, I see no reason to kill it.

I used to cry foul to pretty much anything SWG did, but after a while I just stopped caring. (And this was long before the combat revamp or the NGE)

I'ma go with Runescape personally. I think we can all do without it's wonderful community, and the trails of campfires leading out to the horizon.

One thing I would wish is that WoW would go away for maybe... maybe a couple weeks or so. To get people to go and try some of the alternatives. New experiences and all that. I love it too much to wish it away forever though.

I completely agree, what i really meant was that its not something to obsess over, and that these little kids get SO addicted, for nothing. Its like wine, a little improves heart health, and stress, too much, is terrible.

Oh I had to jump in on this one =)

1) Everquest - just stop.. please.. put down the sword and for the love of god move on to something else. While your on your way out take with you your corpse runs, XP loss and mindless grinding and never come back.

2) Final Fantasy XI - Let the console kids play this garbage.

3) Star Wars Galaxies - Just die already, your own fan base hates you, just die.

4) Tabula Rasa - Stop calling yourself an MMO and tell people what you really are, a third person shooter, and not a very good one.

5) Everquest 2 - If you went away then nobody like myself would be fooled into wasting their money trying you only to discover what a bad looking, bad playing game you are.

6) Horizons, Vangard, etc .. all the crap MMOs that only a few hardcore players are hanging on to. If these went away maybe we would see a few more faces around in the real MMOs.

Add another vote for SWG. The game is basiclly on life support. It's time to pull the plug on this game to put it and it's remaining, misguided players out of their misery. It's time for someone else to tack a crack at making a good Star Wars MMO that SOE obviously failed at.

World of Warcraft.

"Chuck Norris LOLCOPTER9000" I think nobody would care in the least if the millions of people who spend their time acting like a complete moron in Barrens chat/Trade chat just disappeared from the earth. The game disappearing wouldn't help because they would simply migrate to other games you may be playing. There needs to be a MMO culture cleansing!

WoW did absolutely zilch for the genre aside from bringing a younger audience to the scene(by making the easiest MMO of all time) and bringing a more direct marketing approach. The game is simply a half-retarded infant's version of everquest with cardboard looking scenery and absolutely atrocious attention to detail throughout the game.

People who bash EverQuest are completely oblivious to the fact that WoW wouldn't even exist without EverQuest and their astounding 1 Million+ subscribers back when there was barely that many people playing MMO's all together. While thats not a reason for the game to stick around, it still provides the best raiding experience I've come across(and I've since moved onto many other MMOs after EQ) and has a great community that stands out like a sore thumb from those like WoW.

If anyone is going to make statements about any of the grandfather MMO's going out of business "just because they are old", than why not mention Ultima Online?

70 Orc Warrior WoW
70 Wood Elf Druid EQ
70 Gnome Necromancer EQ2

World of Warcraft.... and not because I hate it. I like it a lot. But it's well past its prime, not particulary original. If it disappeared all of a sudden more people would try different games and form other communites. More development effort and money would flow into the less successful but worthy MMO projects. More varied, better designed games would emerge. WoW is holding innovation back, the gaming world would be better off with it gone.
