if SL was not so unstable to the point of you risking loose a body part when the system hickups, and I could still use stuff outside it, I might consider the idea, but I think I would ratter implant a powerfull computer in my brain (with decently shielded wifi and such) and just keep that part of me that I can trust more to not break as much as stuff in SL do, and also not need to worry about angry "gods" putting me to sleep if someone doesn't like me, aswell still have acess to other stuff in case SL goes down more permanently)

as for having my mind transfered to a machine, I don't think it would a very good idea, unless I was capable of replicating myself over the internet and such to prevent me getting trapped on a machine that lost internet connection, or killed if any single machine deletes me, and currently, I don't think most computers I could find would have enough processing power to run a human mind at all, not to mention without having the user notice somthing weird is in their machine, in the furture, if it gets to the point of such a system for hosting a human mind in a way that the mind can still defend itself from stuff on the "real" world, and not have any capability removed, I might consider it, though I woudl probably ratter transfer my mind to a (initially) humanoid robot with enough processing power and extensibility (meaning I could improve myself with new hardware and such). always keeping a backup of course

but if it was supposed to be a Second Life that isn't dependent on the "real" world (liek an alternate universe that is very similar to how SL is supposed to work, then I might be more inclined into shifting to it, but I would ratter still keep a backup of myself, and probably experiment it knowing I can return to my old reality (preferably at the exact point in time and space where I left) any time I want
