Well, I don't care about MMOs on consoles, but I do agree that the concept of Auto Assault was a good one, and hopefully we'll see more attempts at its style of car combat.

One game that I've always thought would make a really great MMO is Interstate `76. It had a lot to base an MMO around: a great time period (the 1970's), an interesting story, cool cars, fun combat, some interesting factions, and so on. They could even have some on-foot stuff like the sequel.

There's a lot of PvP potential in an Interstate 76 MMO too. You could join "guilds" and battle other guilds for control of key locations like oil fields and repair depots.

I'm still sticking to the opinion that Auto Assault's biggest problem was that it stuck too close to the MMO formula, while trying to emulate another game genre that's already pretty prolific.

It was like, even though your character was a car, it was more like a car-shaped-elf. The game laughed at you if you wanted to control your car with, say, a driving controller. Silly gamer.
