I'm actually near the bear-bottom thanks to an old AGP MoBo.

Looks like I'll be upgrading before May 20th.

So the game is enhanced for DirectX 10, but doesn't require it? XP is listed as one of the OS options...

This is good news for me. The game might run like crud, but I didn't want to have to upgrade to Vista for it. Yet, at least.

No Vista, No DX10, simple as that.
Also, I thought that there would NOT be a native 64 bit version an only a 32bit version???

I should have been more clear, Mark. I know DX10 is only out for Vista. But the rumor was you'd need DX10 (and therefore Vista) to play AoC. But this spec list says otherwise.

Lord of the Rings Online has full support for DX10, but you don't need Vista to run the game. Besides, XP is right there in the requirement listing. :)

What's your processor and graphics chipset? 2 gigs of ram is a good amount but lag is determined by more than just your overall RAM.

Well my processor isn't quite up to speed (but it is a dual core) but my graphics card and ram is over the limit. I hope I can just turn down the settings a bit and it'll be "alright". I am looking forward to this for some reason, it could be quite good!

@Shawn: Don't think you should worry. May have to tone down the graphic settings a tad but nothing horrendous. Shouldn't look ugly if thats what you're worried about ;) Pretty and lag-free that is.

Looks good. I think the recommendation for 64-bit processors is to tell you what family of CPU is going to run it well. All 939 and AM2 AMD processors are 64-bit capable, as are all Core 2 families on the Intel side.

If you have a powerful and recent graphics card and enough ram (you really shouldn't be gaming these days with less than 2GBs, and that is dirt cheap), that will determine how good your experience will probably be. If your processor is even a bit on the old side but you have enough ram and a recent+powerful graphics card, you will play most games better than someone with a great CPU and a crap graphics card (or merely a GB of ram - but even there, a good graphics card can somewhat compensate!).

aposperittis - My guess is that because you have a new video card the website you're using hasn't quite caught up to the newer drivers your card is using. You should be completely fine and so long as you've got the CPU and RAM to back up the card you'll be running AoC just like you see it in the screenshots and videos.

I currently have:

AMD Turion Dual Core
2 gigs of ram
ATI radeon xpress series (0x5975)

Can anyone give me an estimate at how poorly the game will play. SHould I even bother playing AoC with the current specs?
