I'm officially calling it FakeXtend.

I've downloaded and tried out their first release (beta) version 0.1 few weeks ago. I wasn't too happy with the result because it's not truly finished nor a start. After today that I downloaded it and gave it another spin. I've only noticed small changes with the files on Server side. They tried to make things easier by adding a BAT run-file to start everything that you need to get your own sim to go. They did added some "kind" of editor for avatar with attachments. As I saw it, it was more of a importer/exporter 3d model to replace your avatar with supporting (haven't I said it was buggy?) bones for animation system. They threw in some example models, so I tried out one of them, a strange looking snowman. (after I've tried the viewer with their normal default avatar.)

Couldn't help but notice that there was tons of errors windows pop up everywhere and forced to shutdown all together. Leaving back to my desktop again. I've figured I made have done something wrong or messed with the avatar generator too much. After retrying without so much changes with the animation bones and attachment. I had no luck. So I went back to normal default avatar again and it actually start the viewer up again.

However, as I recall from 0.1 version, my frame rate was decent at 20's range... 0.2 did not, much worst, falling down to 3 or 4 frames per second. Bandwidth from between the server and the client (still can't believe this because it was only done on my Local network system) had shot up much higher than 0.1 did before. Took about a minute or so to delete an object on my test land. 0.1 took about maybe 20 seconds, but surely enough 0.2 took twice longer or more. It could be my system, which still can't believe the lag I'm getting from my own local network, I'm being to have more doubts about these developments.

So I kept checking on few things like how they mention all their "features", one that I was interested to check it out was bot scripting.... there wasn't anything for it. Desktop application sharing (VNC)... was not there yet. Script controllable viewer HUD and UI? Nope, not there. Terrain texturing... well, if they meant editing texture from estate panel, that is there... except they just turn black, ignoring your texture that I actually uploaded and installed myself.

I know this is still in beta but the difference between 0.1 and 0.2 has only gone down hill. Can't help but think about all the stuff they "tried" to make this a real "extended" system was actually becoming a big part con-artist job.

So that's why I'm officially calling it FakeXtend untill they actually do something that works instead of making an excuses that it's still a beta. I'm gonna stick with LL's SL viewer for a long long time to come.

I've asked if they can provide us with a changelog in future, so that we can get more of a picture about what's working, not-working, implemented, half-implemented and planned.

Yeah, that would help a bit. Although they did listed out their "features" and roadmap.... figures it means that all the things in features are working and roadmap are just some future plan. I'm pretty sure about half of the features aren't actually there.
