Problem is not everyone follows the rules of etiquette.

Come on... PuGs don't mean insta-death at all. I have been with guilds who die just as much, the difference is they don't blame each other instead they support one another or laugh it off. In a PuG suddenly it is a issue that no one knows how to play-blah-blah-blah...

And most people who play the game are perfectly friendly if your friendly to them. Come off as a bossy jerk and you probably end up with a team that is not having fun - in which case they will do something you won't like. Then you blame it on the PuG instead of looking inward.

I liked MMOs before the anti-PuG sentiment started cropping up. I would say pre-2007 almost everyone PuGed and we all had fun doing it.
