"If ever player got an epic every time they did a raid encounter, people would have finished out the content months ago."

Well, except they *did* finish out the content months ago. They just have to keep *redoing* it to get the gear they want. It gets boring specifically because they've already been through the content part.

Nothing about the system, as described, necessarily means that highly desirable loot drops more often. It might, and I haven't played Mythos so can't say how it does it, but I can see at least a couple of other possible scenarios.

(a) There could be two loot tables, one for desirable loot and the other for consolation prizes. Consolation prizes are rolled per character (meaning everyone gets one), while desirable loot is still rolled per party/raid. The consolation prizes are minor upgrades or fodder for the Auction House, so don't have much impact.

(b) As above, but desirable loot is rolled per character, with lower percentages in proportion to the number of players intended for the content. There's a chance in a given instance that everyone could walk away with the good stuff, but over time the same amount of it will enter the world.

This system is already in use in an MMO - Flagship's "other" game, Hellgate: London.

And yeah, it's awesome. The sooner other games adopt this approach the better.

City of Heroes does this too. Enhancements, CoH's more asbtract version of EQ, automatically appears in your inventory, without any message being sent to the rest of your party.

It is rolled individually, so you're not compromising anyone else. And no supergroup to my knowledge forces you to give give valuable enhancements to people who have been doing Task Forces (raid content) more often.
