Well I stopped playing both Shadowbane and WoW when my guild started to fizzle. Many MMOs rely on a good guild. I am about to stop playing Pirates of the Carribean for the same reason.

In most cases where a guild can survive to move on to a new game the members mostly move with their guild. I've written a lot of articles about making guilds easier to manage in MMO's, but the "veteran" developers currently on the big name projects continue to think that a guild should be nothing more than a tag, chat channel, and maybe a cape.
