There's no doubt spin would be playing a large role in any protests. You're spot on with most areas being quiet - WSE is basically deserted..

Quite honestly, I never trusted the banks in SL to begin with. There's something about letting someone else hold my money that just doesn't sit well with me. There's no reason any of these banks couldn't just take the money and run at any time.

That being said, there seems to be a trend lately of removing the freedoms of the residents to pursue whatever it is they wish. I'm waiting for them to start sanitizing all aspects of my second life. Just like Big Brother. Also increasing seems to be the trend of issues that keep cropping up. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy that Cory is leaving now. I am sure that will help things!

Tharkis, "it's not a game" any more :)

And this means that we have to play by the rules of our governments.

Curious, the Australian Tax Office recognises profits made in SL as taxable. Now I wonder if losses are claimable?

Not separately. Your L$ valuation falls under Capital Gains and is taxed as such, so a loss would be an offset to that. I believe the same applies in the UK.

On the downside, the record-keeping is more complex - on the plus side, the tax rates for CGT are lower than you'd pay if you simply claimed your US$ value of cashed monies as income.
