"Tabula Rasa's tiered system means that most cloning opportunities save you a negligible amount of playtime - after all, you only have two ways to go with a clone at level 30, you can't jump branches."

^This.

No, you start at level 1, ghen, a cloning credit lets you clone your current character's completed missions and stats, to a new character, with the new character it has no gear, and loses it's skill-set, so you can respec your character, or try a different tier,

Hmmmm, I'm not that familiar with TR's cloning system, but it sounds a bit like FFXI's job system, which I actually liked quite a bit (could switch classes at your mog house in a city, each class had its own level)... I only had 2 alts in that game as opposed to my 13 in WoW, but then again, you had to pay an extra dollar a month per alt so that kind of limited my desire XD. So, I guess a real cure for altoholism might be charging for alts, but to be honest, in FFXI, I would have had no alts if the inventory was larger, since I needed sets of equipment for each class, I felt really cramped, so that was what drove me to pay the extra 2$ a month for those alts. My real reason for playing so many alts is so that I know the classes I'm playing with and can help guide other players when I'm leading a group. So, as long as there's some way for me to learn the other classes without using alts (and handle all the necessary equipment), I wouldn't have alts.
