Thats a horrible name. It won't relate well to the gaming crowd.

Plus I don't like Curt Shilling =)

Curt's actually a pretty cool guy. I played on the same server as Curt, (EQ Mac) I had no idea who he was, and he's a stand up guy, even after the server found out he was playing there. He tried to get me to join his guild, (I was guildless) but didn't push or anything, and would message me out of the blue to talk about the game. I haven't talked to Curt in years, but I'd say overall he made the server a lot more interesting, especially when the drama bombs went off and he more or less fled to the EQ2 Beta. :p

In the interview with Schilling he calls it a working title.

It isn't a working title, it's a code name that we use to ensure nobody has any idea what the game is about. ;)

A better code-name (more controversial) would've been:

Medieval '08: The Lancing of King Quackish.

In all seriousness, I wouldn't mind seeing a cool(er) medieval MMO to hit the scene. Too many of these are gimmicky, but actually having the ability to interact in an environment similar to WoW, sans the fantasy, would be neat.

Just to clarify, Copernicus is our code name for the project, not a working title.

The name of the product is not going to be Copernicus. We just thought it was a cool name for internal use. And the purpose of a code name is so that you can refer to a work in progress without actually revealing anything important about it. ;)

Let me guess... You came up with the name.

May I humbly suggest it not have 'world' in the title or anything else cliche?

So it was just your typical marketing press release to keep the studio name in the news even though nothing new about the game is being released, because the only thing new is the codename for the project. But hey, it worked because it got some attention.

Enhance your calm, John Spartan. There was no press release, but I like shiny tin foil hats. The author of the linking article sent it in as a tip, and Eli felt that it was newsworthy enough to post about it.
