Yeah, the MMO industry hasn't matured enough to the level that attracts Jack Thompson so I think we're safe for now.

The man does make one extremely intelligent point though... Minors should not be able to purchase M rated games and they do so day in and day out. There's just no requirement for businesses to bother training their employees, and if you're a kid looking for a game you're CERTAIN to find someone to sell it to you, it just might take a few stores. Get your parents to take you to the mall or go with a friend and you're set.

The rating system is fundamentally broken.

When Halo 3 gets a "m" rating (due to the online content primarily) and Manhunt 2 gets the exact same rating, there is a problem.

I sell video games for a living. I do not, and my employees do not sell M rated games to minors. Its instant termination if you are caught doing so.

Most of the kids I refuse to sell to come in with a parent shortly after and buy the game.

It shouldn't be my responsibility to monitor what kids buy, it ought to be their parents. It ought to be my job to give great customer service by helping parents understand the content of games and giving them the tools they need to make intelligent decisions.
