Forget any legal or technology hurdles. MMORPG's are basically about slaughtering everything in sight (well, for EVE, its economic slaughter). How do you take a franchise that's about striving for peace and co-operation and turn that into an MMORPG? For space combat, how much of my crew is made up of players, and how much by NPCs? What happens when the players have to stop for dinner? I'm having a really hard time imagining how this can work.

Well, that's part of the fun, if they can figure out how to answer those questions. And honestly, MMORPGs aren't ALWAYS about killing everything in sight - I think some of the best aspects are when you have to figure out puzzles, balance stats, equipment, objectives, etc. And besides, if I'm a Klingon, killing everything in sight shouldn't be a problem...
