I'm going to ignore the fact that this was clearly filmed in mouselook, with black bars put up to hide the UI. This story just moves me for some reason. Filmed in the gorgeous backdrop of Windlight, you can see the loving detail that they put into their creation. They were obviously a tight-knit group, with 277 members strong. At the end of November, they held a meeting to decide whether to rebuild, though it seems that they've found new headquarters since then. If you'd like to help them out or get more details, please visit the SL-LOST website.

I'm not a fan of SL but I'm definitely a fan of Lost. That is amazing, really. I would have joined up if only to run around through the island and meet up with them and discuss LOST after every episode.

Now I'm wondering why it took them more than 3 months to build it and it's still only 55% done?
I can clearly see why the owner decided to disappear.
They took too long to build something silly.
I've built a city (Meijis) in 3 week alone. No doubt that I could build their "island" within a week. It's no excuse to take too long when they had a whole crew! 277 PEOPLE!? ....come on.

I get the idea that only a handful of them were actively building, while the rest were RPing.

i'm sorry.
i really thought the island and the video were amazing and i wish the SL-LOST team the best of luck and hope they rebuild their lost paradise, but while watching this video, deep down inside me, a voice was screaming out. It screamed: THIS WOULD BE AN AWESOME FPS MAP!
am i a bad person?

Hi I am the creator of the video. I want to explain you a few things:
1.-There are black bars in the video because my computer is widescreen.
2.-We spent 4 months to make the 55% because we were only 6 or 7 the builders of that island, and most of us were newbies at that. The rest of the people joined the group and visited the island, but didn't work on it. The real work didn't start until end of August, because until there we weren't organized properly.
If you love Lost, and until a new island is rebuilt, you can visit our new Headquarters were fans are meeting each other and pushing the numbers in the famous computer every 108 minutes.
3.- The owner did very little to help with the actual building process, he only paid the monthly fees for the island. He was really excited about our work until he left without saying a word.

Okay, I'll give you 1, but you still zoomed somehow to hide the UI, since it was filmed in Mouselook.
2. I know how it works with community stuff. A few people make it work and the rest reap the rewards. I never questioned that.
3. I put this out there not only as a way to showcase your hard work, but in hopes that people will find your community and either help rebuild it, or help donate to it.

Hi Moo Money,i think you misunderstood me.My only intention was to share with you more information, i know that you didn't question anything. And about the mouselook,i didn“t zoomed the video but yes even if te video was originaly widescreen i put a little black bar too. That day we were really nervous and i did my best, i know that there are some ways to make the videos look more profesional.
Anyway, thanks for sharing this,Moo!!

Awww, shucks. I'm not trying to be a big bully. I know it wasn't easy for you to film that, much less edit it, when you knew it was your last goodbye. As soon as I get my new video card put in, I'm definitely stopping by to check things out! Keep your head up. :)

Hello all,
I am Co- Owner of SL-Lost. I thought it would be helpful to know exactly how much it cost to buy and maintain an island in Second Life for those that do not know and to better help people understand why we haven't just started again once the financal owner of our original island disappeared. It costs $1675 that is US dollars, to buy the island then $295 per month (US dollars) for monthly maintenance. Our goal is to get a large group of people together who are interested in helping with this cost. We do plan on rebuilding and we have copies or the origanals of what was on the island, what we are lacking however is the actual island, once we get that it should not take us nearly as long to rebuild what we once had. Thank you for your interest in our project!!!
