GameTribe in my opinion is just being selfish wanting to keep all the EU players in their own servers and not in a different server which is more international. IP Blocking is stupid, and i hate the idea of IP Blocking. Thanks to GT, i'll lose all my EU friends from DOMO CB AND from other games i've played with. now we have to split up because of this? lame.

I SAY LET THE EU PEOPLE PLAY WITH US IN AERIA DOMO!!!! IP BANNING JUST EU IS STUPID!!!

Thanks Tateru and Massively for having this article.

After finding out about this game and getting a chance to play Aeria's CB, I really fell in love with not only the game but the community as well. I met so many fun people to hang out with that I was really looking forward to OB, and all the fun times we could have while continuing to meet others from all over the world.

That won't be possible now with the IP bans. Like other players, some of my friends are in Europe (overseas)... With me being in NA, there's no way for us to play together on DoMo.

It just seems so unfair and frustrating. If Europeans want to play Aeria's version, then they should be allowed to (and vise versa for Gametribe's version).

At least with this article we can hope that maybe our pleas really will be heard, and that we will somehow get the chance to play with all of our friends on DoMo.

I think this is a stupid thing to ban people from a game just to reserve rights for yourself especially after people have made friendships and started to fit into the community and then take them out of it and tell them that it's your DoMo or no DoMo. I think they should release the bans on both sides and let North Americans Play with the people from Europeans and the Europeans play with the North Americans. That way they both have equal business opportunities for customers.

I just hope somthing equitible can be done for both company's I don't think gametribe thought this through well enough as I am aware of quite a few North American players that wish to play on the EU servers.Having someone that actually wants to be there opposed to someone thats forced to play there by imposing regional restrictions is in my opinion a flawed philosophy

uhm, I've been around GT for a bit, mostly playing another of their games, but I was waiting to get in in Domo OB as I couldn't get a code for the close. I was wondering: GT announced IP-ban on early november:

http://forum.gametribe.com/showthread.php?t=990

which is before Aeria Closed Beta, is it really possible that Aeria wasn't aware of an european ip-ban chance on their side being at least possible? I personally didn't sign up there 'cause I expected this outcome: it appeared quite obvious given NA ip-ban on european servers... but it's just my opinion

Personally, I think they should lift IP banning all together. If they can't see it is only doing more harm to the community then good, by segregating the community. It should be peoples choice where they go in games. Then they will both lose players on both sides of the equation. Then people get mad and find another game, that they CAN play their friends with. Would be a shame to see a Good Game meet an early demise. Hopefully they stop the territorial pissings, and let us play FREELY where WE WANT TOO!!!

I'd just like to give you some correct information. The petitions was started by me and i'm a normal user. I'm not a moderator.

The moderators were asking people to e-mail Softstar though.

The whole IP ban is ridiculous! We need to let them know that we are extremely unhappy with this decision. Thanks, Massively for covering this story! Softstar and Gametribe, we want to play with our EU friends!

Usual practice for Game tribe, is to IP ban North Americans. This is not normal Practice for Aeria. How it is fair for one business to force another to adopt it's own usual business practice, when the other has a completely different style of doing business. If Tribal had wanted exclusive rights, perhaps that should have been in writing when they purchased the game rights. It's my guess this isn't the case, otherwise, this would not have come as a surprise to any one.

Aeria's practices of offering not only games, but wonderful community interactions and outside game fun, has created an atmosphere of wonderful international gaming community. Many of the long term Aeria members will now be blocked of not only a game, but the ability to interact with players they have formed a long time gaming friendship with. Not to mention, the men and women in the North American military that server over seas. They to will be blocked as Tribal strives to claim them for thier own purposes.

It's my hope the players will speak up and share thier concerns with SOFTSTAR. Hopefully, the IP ban will be over turned and players may choose where they care to spend thier entertainment time.

I still think we the players should have the possibility of choosing the company we want to play at.
We want to go, where we think the quality and service is better. Forcing us to play a certain version is just wrong.

I'm glad that this issue has gathered so much interest. I'm sure eventually we can widdle down softstar's patience into getting them to lift the ban.

I just hope that the bans can be gone so everyone can play domo where they would like to play as now people are getting seperated from friends on both servers. Just doesn't seem fair and hardly profitable.

well of all the mmo's i've played, this is the first time that i will have been prevented from playing with my friends in the US.

the whole thing seems to have been badly managed and poorly thought out... here's hoping that the powers that be reconsider and lift the IP blocks and let people play where they like

I find this extremly irritating. If we were to apply the same rules to the real world, global economy would not exist. The IP bans are the "virtual" varient of banning all ships and planes moving between the US and EU in my opinion

First, I just want to say thanks for having this article and helping to get the word out.

DoMo is a game based on having a close-knit community, and these IP bans are preventing that. It's like saying, "We want you to be friends and play with everyone, but you can't play with those people over there. It's not allowed."
Everyone was allowed to play in CB, and a lot of people have already made friends where they were playing. It's unfair to make them have to go somewhere else without any option of playing a game they enjoy with the people they enjoy it with.

I just really hope that SoftStar rethinks the IP bans so that we can all continue to play with the friends we've already made.
