Tateru, just don't use shinny with glow on. Shinny makes glow.... too glowy. O-o.

As for the light shading/contract with object and avatars, I agrees but.... not true actually. There's nothing wrong with the light rendering.... the person who made the pre-set didn't do a good job with it. I've toyed with the setting long enough to get grandeur results. In fact, even I toyed with render glow as well. I think they are both great feature in SL since...... ever!

However, only thing I find that bugs me is the shinny is too shinny. I believe it's time for LL to change the shinny's input into numeral inputs as alpha and glow instead of only 3 levels of shine in drop down menu input.

(You gotta see a new fire Fx I've made. :P )

Enabling atmospheric shading definitely did weird things to my viewer at first:

This was, luckily, fixed after installing the latest drivers for my graphics adapter. I really like Windlight, I ran Windlight and the OnRez viewer next to another in order to compare the exact same location at the same time (using two user accounts) and the difference is really stunning.

On my wife's three year old Dell computer though, I can't even enable some of the more advanced options; the Intel adapter on that machine is not supported. Granted, it was one of the cheapest Dells around, but still.
