I agree. I have been interested in TR from the beginning but didn't get a spot in the beta, and while the game seems promising enough, I don't want to buy the game and play time before I'm really sure I want to continue to play it.
Currently I'm a hardcore WoW player but TR looks promising to me, Im just not completely convinced yet, playing a trial will do that.

I also agree. A former hard-core WoW player here, looking for a new vice.

The bottom line:

I'm not plopping down $50 to play something I've heard mixed reviews on before giving it a go.

Actually, I got a 10 day free trial from Tabula Rasa for reaching level 15 in the Beta. It's good till Feb, so I'm waiting till Jan at least before trying it out again, give them some time to tweak the messy stuff.

I wish all MMOs offered free trials. I'm speaking not just as a TR "Beta tester" (I use the term loosely because I barely played, having had trouble getting account authentication to work and not being motivated enough to try harder), but also as a consumer looking for a new game to buy. I've almost always made it a point to try out single-player and multi-player demos before making a purchase.

With MMOs that don't offer trials however, it's like I'm buying the game to demo it for a month (the usual length of complimentary game time included with the software purchase). For me, that's really quite a barrier to entry that I've yet to try to overcome.

As the above mentioned post implies, I one really disliked TR. I was in the beta since forever, since Alpha really... and I wrote the game off. I stopped testing around the NDA lift when the game was still not very promising.

Now, I got a 3-day trial from Private Hudson at Wife-Aggro, and I find the game enough fun to buy it and I can honestly say I really didn't have an interest and had it not been for the trial, I'd still be playing anything else.

The game's come a long way since the initial NDA lifting, and anyone looking for something new should give it a try. it really has become good, somehow, amazingly so.

A free trial it needs, for sure.

I tried the beta of TR and I didn't really like it at all. It was extremely lackluster from what I saw. But I realize that it was probably a flawed impression of an incomplete game. But now that the game is launched, I'm finding it difficult to justify buying it and playing it on the basis of what I saw and experienced.

So they definitely need a free trial or something, because I wanted to enjoy it, but didn't get a chance to. Hopefully I could try out a more compelling experience this time.
