I'm a leader. Most of the time I have to consciously hold back from telling people what to do. Thats a big problem with leaders is if you tell everyone how to do everything then 1) it won't be fun for anyone and 2) they won't learn to do it right the next time.

So if someone asks me how to do something I go into detail, but otherwise I try to ask opinions and get strategies from the group even if I already know how to do things.

I'm a bit different I suppose. I was a leader of my guild, but when it came to groups other than guildees...I didn't want any part of leading, except if it was in my favorite instance. I think my patience level with guildee newbs is a lot higher than with stranger ones. :P

Im a follower because I do not possess the traits required to be my kind of leader. Requirements as follows:

-A total direhard that knows everything about the game
-Always online in one form or another (forums/chat/ingame).
-Logging in game at times from work as well is a plus I have grown to love.
-And most importiantly of all, have a collection of "Officers" to provide 24-7 coverage.

I require this because its hard to take a governing body seriousally if there are times no one in it is available.

I bow down before those I end up serving. I'm not a natural leader, but that hasn't stopped me from leading a few guilds.

I think my mindset is best summed up as "Trusted Lieutenant."

I -can- lead (this usually happens when I'm the most experienced person in a particular group or location, or when I'm frustrated and decide that WE ARE TAKING OUT THAT BADDIE *NOW*), however, I'm generally more comfortable being given some general marching orders to implement (either how I feel is best, or in a manner endorsed by someone whose judgment I trust).

Most of the time I'm a follower but there have been instances where I have to take the lead and that's usually when I'm playing with people who aren't familiar with the game or environment.

I think people just naturally fit these roles, off-line and online and trying to be something you're not just doesn't fair well for the group.

Or, you could be like Leeroy and just charge in, surprising everyone including yourself.
