While consoles are technically able to receive patches and updates for games, I still prefer the PC for complete customization.

I prefer to play on my PC, I don't have anything against console games, but if an MMO was to come out for a console near you (such as FFXI), I probably wouldn't pick it up. It would just be too different from what I'm used to, with mapping hotkeys and macros, it brings out a feeling of un-nostalgicness (and yes, I did just make up a word :] ).

One of the biggest problems with Final Fantasy XI has always been the PS2 ver. of the game. Because the PS2 can only do so much, and SE doesn't want to give anyone any sort of edge, they keep the PC ver. dumbed down.

In fact SE has forever stated that the only reason we have had such a limited (to some) macro set is because of the PS2's memory. One wonders how they overcame that problem finally after 5 or so years of telling us it just couldn't/wouldn't be done.

All that aside, I play the game on my Playstation 3 (woohoo upscale!) I just love sitting on my couch with my wireless keyboard being rather lazy while being murdered by Imps (stupid Imps, I'll have my revenge!)

Unfortunately, I think that if a mainstream MMO made it to a console, it would be too "console-esque" when compared to the complexity of a PC MMO. I've played Phantasy Star Universe (offline, though), and although it CAN be played as an MMO, I couldn't imagine stomaching it.

Consoles should have 1st party keyboard and mice setups if they're at all interested in promoting MMOs on their platforms, or at least some kind of multifunction controller which would allow the same range of input that a keyboard and mouse give on the PC. Playing a fully realized MMO with a controller is just limiting.

I can tell you, I'd be a LOTRO player right now if they had a Mac client.

Well, since this hasn't even been mentioned, I'm gonna throw it out there. I want an MMO on a hand-held system! Be it my DS or my PSP (obviously PSP would be the better choice with the memory stick and patches), something like Ragnarok Online but a smaller scale would be sweet. Yes, I know that chat and communication would be limited (the DS microphone could help with that quite a bit), yes the world would have to be smaller, yes it would have to be on a limited scale, and of course, it would have to be the type of game where you can sit down for a couple of minutes and feel that you're accomplishing something rather than having to devote hours to getting anything done.

It would be quite a challenge both technically and design-wise, but I would love the ability to whip out my DS or PSP near a hotspot and play my current form of crack away from home.
