Nothing wrong with bling when done in moderation, like anything else in SL.

Exactly. Bling, if done right gives a bit of life to the scene. The fact that some residents are idiots who thinks that it is fancy to look like a overpowered Christmas tree doesn't mean it should not be used. It just means they have no clue about what they're doing.

And the frightening thing is, this isn't the worst bling explosion I've seen.

How's that helpful? That just make it even WORST! (script time lag score wise)

Just remove all blings! :P

I'm prepared to make the assumption that the script is coded to listen only for a certain period after the menu is sent over.

Touch events are not considered a major lag inducer in normal amounts - the events in them do not trigger at all unless touching occurs.
