For me SL can be said to be a virtual world which exists in our imaginations thanks to our mutual willingness to partially suspend disbelief, which for most of us settles somewhere towards the middle of the gamut between literal everyday-accepted reality on one end and immersive delusion on the opposite end.
It is silly to deny both that there is a person behind the curtain, or that imagination is more important than knowledge.
